The history of Racine is full of the stories of people escaping injustice through community resistance. We continue in the spirit of this legacy with the goal of making sure poverty isn't the reason for incarceration.
The Legacy of
Joshua Glover was an enslaved man who escaped to Racine, Wisconsin in search of freedom. When federal marshals captured him under the Fugitive Slave Act in 1854, a group of abolitionists boarded a ship and sailed to Milwaukee and broke him out. His story is a powerful reminder that community resistance can challenge injustice. We continue his legacy today by fighting for the freedom of those impacted by the injustice of our current system.

The Joshua Glover Justice Fund is a community-driven initiative dedicated to supporting individuals who cannot afford bail. We believe that no one should be jailed simply because they are poor.
